On the road again...

Christmas 2016

Merry Christmas 2016 –

So we are rolling up to that time of year again –in looking back at the year – this has been one with some new starts and continuing previous passions.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

November 24 marked our first real snowfall 4+ inches and put us in the mood to think about sending out Christmas greetings. This was a very full year of accomplishments and adventures:

Early Seasons Greetings 2014! and Change of Address

Okay – it is a bit early for the annual Boyle / Reed Christmas letter (we’re usually trying to rush it out the door at the last minute) – but we’ve moved – and thought that we would do Canada Post a favour and update our address before the Christmas Card Season begins.

Merry Christmas 2013

This winter finds us once again having a white Christmas and Deb’s first Christmas tree at home in three years. With being away and a rambunctious extra-toed cat we were afraid to have one. However, Pat found a very nice looking prelit artificial Christmas tree and so with Christmas carols playing and egg nog in the fridge the tree was decorated in early December.

And here is our year in review:

Christmas 2012

Belated Merry Christmas 2012 and Happy New Year 2013!!

We did not forget to do our annual update, as this may be Mickey’s last full year at home we decided to do something special at Christmas and we wanted to share our memories while they were fresh. In February, we started planning with Kelly (Pat’s former workmate), Scott (Pat’s sometimes travel companion) and their two boys to go to Hawaii! This early planning allowed us to get many of the expenses covered ahead of time so hopefully we won’t be adding to Canada’s credit woes when the bills come in.

SEASON’S GREETINGS 2011

We spent last Christmas at the cabin at Moyie and despite a rough start (a broken water line when we re-energized the cabin) a fun time was had by all. Mom went out to test out her new snow shoes and as we went by the shore, the sun was shining, neighbours were making an igloo with the snow that had fallen off their roof onto the deck, and as we looked out to the lake there were two people kayaking in the open part of the bay. Utterly Fantastic!

Seasons Greetings to All:

Well another year has come and gone and all in all this has been a relatively quiet year for the Boyle clan.

Christmas 2009

Christmas 2009

Well I think that 2009 has to go down as the year our Jetta tried to become a jet. The Jetta began the first of three long trips one Monday afternoon in March when Pat and his buddy Scott decided to fulfil a lifelong dream of going to a NASCAR race. Of course, they couldn’t pick one close but instead drove tall the way to Bristol, Tennessee. After deciding Sunday evening that they were really going to go, they left late Monday afternoon and drove straight through (with some minor rest stops) arrived Thursday night to watch three days of racing. As is his nature, Pat found them cheap parking with breakfast included at a church and then got to know some of the regulars and got supper for two nights and an invitation to return any time. Then the marathon drive home. They almost didn’t make it as the rivers were rising and roads cut off, then got caught in a huge snow and ice storm. I wouldn’t like to say it was bad, but hey sat at the border for 15 minutes before they were even noticed because no one else was on the highway other than a few semi trucks. When they got home, we were able to life an ice impression of the license plate that was nearly a half inch thick. We initially weren’t too sure about how Scott would like all the road travel buts seems to have come around agrees to go again as long as Pat drives.

Seasons Greetings – 2008

As we come into the holiday season, it is difficult to know exactly where to start in regard to our year in review. Luckily, Pat got a first draft down and then it snowed so Deb go in the mood to help. The kids put up the tree last night and even let us play Christmas Carols while they did.

Christmas 2007

Seasons Greeting from the Reed / Boyle Clan – 2007

So the holiday season is quickly coming – and once again I do not appear to be near ready. Deb and Pat have most of their Christmas shopping done (and have had for some time) but it is December 9th and the decorations are just starting to go up, Deb has just started the Christmas baking (stuff to give away to co-workers – which means Dad has to steal a bite whenever he passes through the kitchen. We bought each other an exercise machine (Tone in Ten) a Whole Body Vibration Machine. We have been using the “jiggle” machine off and on for about half a year – and although I am not positive about all of the health benefits it espouses, it does help with toning and is very relaxing.
