On the road again...

Week 5 – Quebec City to Moncton

October 15, 2004

We managed to find a tire store – and through broken English and French determined that they could do the work at 8:00 AM on Saturday (ugh). Oh well, it will be an early start for tomorrow as well.

Week 4 – Kingston to Quebec City

October 8, 2004 –

We travelled into Kingston today. The town was originally named King’s Town by the British Loyalists who fled the American Revolution. Deb went to a chiropractor to get her back adjusted as she had pulled it the other day and has not been able to get it back into place. After the treatment, Deb said it still wasn’t perfect – but much better than it had been.

Week Three – Sudbury to Kingston

October 1, 2004 –

Drove into Sudbury this morning and with some fancy navigating on Deb’s part found our way to Dynamic Earth (the Big Nickel). They were doing a lot of road construction, and the place was almost impossible to get to. The boys seemed to love their experience underground and seeing what mining was like. Being the only kids on the tour – they were able to help pack holes with dynamite for the explosion, and operate the remote controls on the automated mining equipment. The amount of re-vitalization of the vegetation that they have done around Sudbury is surprising (they have planted about 4 million trees).   Sure looked different than the “moonscape” that Pat remembered as a kid. However, the big smoke stacks still stand out against the skyline.

Week 2 – Winnepeg to Sudbury

September 24, 2004 –

Today was tour Winnipeg day. Started off by going to the Royal Canadian Mint for a tour this morning. (They are very uptight – don’t allow you to take samples or pictures). The Winnipeg Mint is responsible for producing all of the Canadian coins in circulation, plus coins from over 60 other countries. They can produce 15,000,000 coins per day.

The 2004 / 2005 “Oddessy” – The Beginning

Spirit Ridge Wanderers – The 2004 / 2005 “Oddessy”

September 17, 2004 –

Well, despite our best intentions, we did not get the start that we wanted to our trip. Hopefully it is not foretelling of things to come. From the time that Pat got home, we got the water shut off in the cabin, and got the motor home and toad loaded – it was too late to go far. However we thought it was important to get away from home at least.

Christmas 2003

So that time of year has come again – and once again it seem like we’re running late. The pace of things seems to continue to escalate, and this has been a hectic and hard year.

Christmas 2002

MERRY CHRISTMAS 2002

Well another year has flown by and I don’t know where it has gone. It’s been a busy one but I’ll try to hit some of the highlights for you.

Christmas 2001

Merry Christmas 2001

Hello and once again I thought I was ahead of the game having 90% of my shopping and out of town deliveries done by Nov. 11. We got the Christmas tree up on Dec. 2 and worked on the rest of the decorations up during the week. Then this weekend we wallpapered the bathroom and today I planned to do our annual letter, but we decided to do a road trip to Kalispell for Chinese food instead. (It’s not Paris for Chateaubriand, but it will do.)   Now sitting here I realize that I have no baking done, my house needs cleaning and I’ve got two last minute parcels to mail off. Oh well, the sun is shining, Grandma Boyle is with us and I’m madly writing on a clipboard.

Christmas 2000

Merry Christmas 2000

Well it is that time of year again, and once again we are not ready. Don’t know where the year has gone, but there never seems to be enough time to do everything we had planned. I used to believe that we were being overly ambitious, but I have slowly come to realize that I am just getting older and can’t do as much as I used to (or maybe never did – I just can’t remember).

Christmas 1999

Seasons Greetings’ 99

Well –  It’s that time of year again to get out our annual Christmas letter. This has been a busy and chaotic year (but haven’t they all been). Lets see where should we start.
